Anyone home?!

This cut down tree is on the edge of our driveway, it is no higher than 3 feet, I watched it to see who was home.....

Yes, she is sitting on eggs, I have no idea how many. I have been watching them for about two weeks now, up to three days ago she was still dragging dog fur into the hole, I think she has been sitting full time on her nest only two days. It is hard to believe that she will raise a family in that tree, it seems so small, but I guess that is really what happens in nature. We are so privileged to see it so close up and personal. If I sit quietly in the car, she doesn't know I am there. I can't wait till the babies hatch, I will get to see the parents come and go when feeding. They are so discrete, we are making all efforts not to go near the tree to attract any attention.

I have it on my nook...but I doubt that will be of much help. That said, my house probably loves my nook more than I do now that we have far fewer teetering piles of dusty magazines.

Welcome! I think most of the older posters have either gotten into relationships/married or given up. We sure used to have some fun discussions and I miss it, too. I left because I got married, but, sadly, my DH died 5 years ago, so I'm single again. I check in every day and respond when someone posts, but as you can see, posts are few and far between. Do you mean from the Home Decorators catalogue/website? I got a small bedside table from them and had to leave it outside and in the garage for weeks to off gas! It smelled horrible. Their stuff is inexpensive but pretty low quality.

Has anyone used Home Depot's Greecian white mini hex tile?

Colour variation from a Big Box store marble tile is to be expected. Sorry but they take returns = different batches. Colours run 'true' from one area of the mine. If you have two different marble blocks (5 tonnes of marble being blown off the side of a mountain at a time) from two different areas/levels of the mine, you can and will have different colours. Most of the marble from HD is from China. That can mean multiple mines many miles apart. Your purchase did NOT have a skilled professional picking the right amount of tile from the same batch. This is 'Tony' pulling boxes out of a warehouse for minimum wage. Because HD takes returns...go ahead and take them back. Feel free to work with a stone/tile company or go to a kitchen/bath company to help you pick out the right AMOUNT of product from their stock. What is the marble being used for? Do you know most marbles need to be sealed? Up to 3 times at time of install?

Ya know we expect pictures LOL!!! Good idea about not going near the nest. I wish she was higher than 3 feet. I have hoped for chickadees to nest in my boxes for years. Maybe I will drill a big hole in a tree :)
