We have a nest box. Papa Bluebird quit coming around about a week and a half ago. Mama disappeared about 48 hours ago.

I called my local rehabber yesterday, told her mama was gone for 24 hours. She told me to wait another 30 or so hours for the really light rain to stop. They had already gone without eating for 24 hours when I talked to her.

We made the executive decision to bring them in. They were weak and starving, laying in a wet, poopy nest. We are now feeding them crickets, meal worms and egg yolk....I was told bout the egg yolk from someone at a hotline number.

If we had taken the rehabber's advice, they would be dead.

Now we are researching how to take care of them and everything leads to the rehabber....to whom we do not trust.

We have raised many baby birds with a perfect record. Our problem is that we don't know a lot about bluebirds and we want to make sure they are well taken care of.

Any advice for us?
