Awesome!!! Those are my wife's favorites. Finally, after many years, we now have a couple that have started hanging around our feeders. We are still waiting for a pileated to come around. We've had the usual cast of red bellied, hairy, and downies. We also had a sapsucker very early this spring. Enjoyed the pictures.

It was a great day for woodpeckers. I'm with you, I want a pileated, also. I thought I saw one once but it was a few seconds only and enough of a distance away that I will never be sure.

I've never seen a Red-headed Woodpecker - the markings are so distinct they look almost fake.

The pictures are great, but the video is really surprising, to me anyway. The red-belly is trying his best to scare the dove away from the feeder but the dove just stands its ground. That is one tough dove - I don't usually think of doves as tough.

Fabulous photos! They are so beautiful. I am in eastern NC and a pair raised a baby in our yard 2 years ago. It was so exciting. A "peanut butter log" was their favorite spot at the feeders.

What are you feeding them? Ours like BOSS even though we have a couple suet feeders. As for the pileateds, we have seen them occasionally in our area----and have heard them even more--but have yet to draw them in. Last night, we had 4 male rose breasted grosbeaks, three females, and our first hummingbirds and orioles. Still waiting on the indigos.

I feed sunflower hearts all the way. I've heard the Rose-breasted grosbeaks so I know they're here & I've seen a hummingbird while I was filling my Oriole feeders. So far two new bird arrivals this year: Eastern Meadowlarks and a Northern Mockingbird (not at feeders).

These birds are here every other minute at the feeder.
There's three of them, total. Two have to be mates. I would guess they may be bringing seed to their youngsters??? I don't know though.

Dax, beautiful pictures! My redheads chase after the red-bellies but the chickadees chase the redheads :)
I have pileateds on the property all the time but they don't usually go to my feeders. My rarest woodpecker visitor is the red cockaded, they don't come around too often.

Absolutely gorgeous! We have red bellied and downies & hairies but never a red-headed. Great pictures!
