forgot to mention the others: doves, mockingbirds, grackles-common and boat-tailed, sparrows, painted buntings, blue jays, woodpeckers, yellow throated warbler, phoebe or flycatcher - not sure. yellow rumped warbler, turkey buzzards, crows. ducks flying over - don't know what brand. white ibis, lord and lady cardinal. cormorant flying over..woodstork. Think that's it for today. I love this time of year, too...especially for the birds. Have not seen the robins in a few days now, and the goldfinches flitted on through...only stopped for a very, very short time this year..yesterday I saw two..today nothing. No orioles yet, either, nor cedar waxwings...hoping maybe for this week, tho....it was the first week of March last year.

Surely you jest...According to my book there are 413 species native to Ohio and since last October I have photo documented 93 species in my yard. Since I retired and spend 5 to 10 hours a day shooting pictures my birds spend so much time in front of the camera that they all think their fashion models, Pray tell ,,how do i pick three?? Do I pick the Hummingbird that landed on my knee and sat their 5 minutes or the Chickadee who eats from my hand? Perhaps its the Bluejay who lands on my window sill and pecks on the glass to tell me the bird feeder is empty for the second time today. But then, how could I ignore the Male & Female cardinals that brought their three babies down to eat seed on the driveway 10 feet from my perch on the back steps? For as much as most people despise the Starlings, I can't help but admire the one in my yard that chases the neighbors cat away. In fact, i can't even name three that I don't like although I am a bit upset with the wild turkeys who ate all the garlic plants in my garden.

Please lend me your tips on these plants. I’ve had the large one for 5 years south facing window. Can you put all three plants in one slightly larger clay pot? I’m aware of how large they get. Or do they each need a pot of their own? What diameter would you recommend for individual or group potting? Whats your favorite bird of paradise soil to use?

What! 5 years that one on the left? I hope I can help. I've been growing them for 3 or 4 years and they seem to do very well. In the spring I would re pot them into something 1 1/2 times bigger. take them outside in the summer if you can. I use miracle grow potting mix for everything and they do very well. You could put them in one big pot but they will not grow like they are supposed to. This was one foot tall a few years ago when I bought it for $20
