Neat-looking bird. No wonder you love them. Post as many of these as you want!

Thank you for your kind comments! We visited the fish hatchery last weekend but didn't see one migrant. Yesterday morning we hit the bird lottery, though. A rare migrant and two lifers, as well as a warbler. I took so many photos (over 1700) that my computer has been barely functional, so have had trouble working on the photos. Time to install a second hard drive, just for photos (sigh)

Any owl, but most of all the Eastern Screech-Owl

Always glad to see a new birder. I have been maintaining, for several decades, 6 hanging tube feeders, two open hanging platform feeders, 2 hanging suet cage feeders and 1 covered platform feeder on a post. Also have 9 hummer feeders going in the summer. A few pointers for a newbie. Feeders will attract critters of all kinds. Use some form of baffle on a post or pole. Feeders need to be cleaned regularly, get one that is easy to disassemble. Squirrels and racoons will destroy plastics feeders. I have had good luck with Yankee Droll feeders and you can buy new tubes as needed. Dozens of brands of birdseed, some better than others. Quality birdseed is expensive - I go through 20 plus lbs of seed every month. My best bang for the buck has been using 3-D brand from Walmart and Coles brand sold at most Ace Hardwares. Feeders left in place over a period of time will leave a mess of hulls on the ground so I would avoid placing them in prized landscape areas.
