Are my robins going crazy?

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I've posted.

I'm so happy spring is here, although I've been really busy and missed a lot of my warblers from last year. I looked at my calendar and the first one I spotted last year was on the 27th. This morning I saw two black and white warblers. How cute. (: The grosbeaks are also back.

Anyways.

I have started to put out my grapes, anticipating the arrival of the catbird and my favorite, the oriole! I also love the mockingbirds and the robins who visit. But my robin pair are starting to confuse me! I'll have the grapes out, and they'll eat some, but then go right to my tray feeder and start eating hulled sunflower seeds! Literally moving around the feeder and gulping them down. They're starting to resemble blue jays in their eating habits, lol.

I feel like everything I've grown up to know is a lie! haha. Does anyone else have robins that dine on sunflower seeds? Or is this just some really common behavior that I'm not aware of?

Gracious! Never heard of it! But then, I only use BOSS, not hulled, so maybe you're on to something there-do get photos!

LOL Mine love the peanut butter suet I make for the Blues and other birds so they wait around the feeder looking for dropped food b/c they can't fit in there.

The small potted cutting that I got at a plant exchange in June grew happily outside the rest of the summer doubling its' height. When I brought it in for the winter, and stopped watering much, it suddenly produced a Y and set some buds. All but one of them dropped off. The bud that didn't drop got huge and actually opened!! I was thrilled. Not much fragrance, but it was beautiful! I hope yours' does well for you.

The issue is that birds see their reflection and assume it's another male, so they attack their reflection. Robins are probably not the brightest birds, so they keep attacking the window. Actually, very few animals can pass the self-image test where an animal seems the reflection and recognize it as themselves. So far, only humans, apes, elephants, dolphins, and some crows have past the test. If this continues, turn on a light on the other side, which makes the reflection go away. Paul

I can see were EG would not work here. A darker, warmer gray might but I would keep it simple myself. I think your cabinets are lovely. It’s very hard to tell how any color will look in a space viewing it on a monitor! Nearly impossible actually. This is just a suggestion. You could try a neutral, lighter color such as BM barely beige. It still has warmth but isn’t yellow. Here it is compared to your current color. See how it looks with your trim though, you may have to repaint that. You could do the trim in the same color in a higher sheen.
