An impossible rose in my climate. But if I could grow it I would pair it with the clematis Luther Burbank which I do grow. It was raised in the Soviet Union in the middle of the cold war and I have always wondered how the breeders were allowed to honour an American hybridizer at that time. Thanks Windeaux, so it is. I had done a search on Vintage and came up with nothing, but just now found it by going down the list. It's listed under "Hybrid Teas - Custom Root". Thank you also for linking the thread on the discussion of "St. Helena Cemetery Very Double HT". I was going to say that it answers my original question, that is IF "Arcadia Louisiana Tea" is the same rose. Evidently Vintage doesn't think they are the same as he still lists both roses separately. Also describes their bush sizes as different. However, "Arcadia Louisiana Tea" is certainly close to the rose I have, especially if you allow for differences in climate. Plus roses can 'morph', so to speak. For instance, the Prairie Sunrise I got from Sam Kedem years ago has many more petals and tends to quarter where the specimen from Chamblees does not. deep_woods, Thanks for your tips....I have become moss obsessed and have found very little info on the web for growing it in containers. I hope to eventually take it outside, but for now, I am focusing on growing it indoors in several types of containers including: under a cloche, in a hanging terrarium (with a hole in the front), in a jar, and in a small bowl with no covering. I have harvested moss in my area (Philadelphia), where it grows all over the rocks and in cracked pavement (almost no soil at all), and even on debris-filled pot holes. From your previous conversations, I gather that taking some of the native soil/debri for the containers would be a good idea. Just as brendainva, I am growing in containers that have no drainage holes. I also gather that you would not suggest pebbles, clay balls, or charcoal at the bottom? These are suggestions I have heard from other sites. As I mentioned, most of the moss here, which is short, bold green, and clumpy, grows on extremely nutrient poor areas such as rocks and walls. Which makes me think it might do well on some rocks/pebbles. Although I cannot tell you what species it is, what are your thoughts on this? You said, "Shallow containers with fertilizer and warm weather and regular misting or watering from above with some mosses can lead to doubling the moss in a month." What type of fertilizer are you referring to? Eventually I would like to add some ferns or other native plants to my moss terrariums. For now, however, I am focusing on the moss. Thanks so much!! Bryan~Thanks for your reply. I know I'm jumping the gun quite a little bit. I really do appreciate the heads up, as I know it would be in my best interest to be prepared as much as possible before I make my proposal. This open land is part of a little homestead, there are at least three houses and a barn on the property. I know they have well water, what I don't know is what that means exactly. They're obviously on the outskirts of town. Recently, I've gotten positive feedback from every resident I've spoken to regarding a CSA operation, so I am currently leaning to going with that approach, and starting small with the flowers as a sideline. The local government may be able to offer some assistance, at least spread the word in the town newsletter. If there is enough interest, I would have a diversified base of potential customers to begin with, between the CSA, the farmers market, and the florist. He mentioned zinnias, my floral instructor expressed an interest in cut branches of woodies (fall), so I am getting a sense of what the local market is looking for, and when. I need to do much more research and planning before I begin. Yeah good luck, I'm gonna need it.
