I want to include a Birdhouse and a Birdfeeder. My Birdfeeder is very large and I hung it last summer and was still out till recently when it needed seed and found out the thing broke at the top where you take it off to add seed ... so I'm mounting it on a pole and it will be just fine that way. It is VERY heavy so I can't have a tall pole for it. I included a picture of my bird feeder. It is 13 x 13 and has 9 feeding stations, 11lb capacity. I want to have a birdhouse separate but not too far away. Have an idea to put these alongside our ramp ... will look nice with some vines I think. :) Also, I know this bird feeder can be pole mounted because a couple people told me about how to do it. I saved that info and it says The pipe needs to be no wider than 7/8 of an inch. Anyway, looking forward to mounting that and I have to find a nice bird house to also mount on a pole. We have lots of cats around here (including ours that goes outside) and squirrels, so I might have to figure a way to keep them out.

We feed sunflower seeds, peanuts,corn,thistle and pumpkin seeds for the squirrels. Some of it gets planted, because the squirrels take it off and bury it for future reference...it's inevitable. We just pull out the stuff that grows. We contain the mess under and around the feeders in a brick-edged area that has landscape-cloth in it...weighed down around the edges with the bricks. In the spring, we take up the landscape cloth...mess and all...get rid of it and start over. It works really well for us. ~Sandy~

I have tons of squirrel in my area. Both species are tree squirrels (gray and fox). There are so many that may be several passes through every couple of min. There's always a few hanging underneath the feeder alone with morning doves, grackles, and some times Canadian geese. Recently, I switch from a hanging tree feeder to a pole system where the base is 4 metal pins. I don't have to dig a hole or anything, just step hard on it to get it to go into the ground. My initial attempt to do this fail because I tried to do this next to a wall and the wall apparently have stones base that extend pass the wall. I then attach a baffle and then the feeder. The feeder is located 10 feet away from a tree so they can't jump that far, it's also over 6 feet up. So far, a few attempt to climb the pole but either slip off the metal or get to the top and get blocked by baffle. I don't know if it's raccoon proof, but there are raccoons in the area, but I don't know if anyone tried it. Paul

Well the flower form eliminates Mulberry and Crab Apple. Both cherry and almond are Prunus species so my suggestion still stands. It will not show fruit until the flowers are pollinated. And the seeds are the pits inside the fruit. When it leafs out perhaps you could show us a picture of a leaf or two.
