A couple of years ago I planted coleus in windowboxes and put them under the living room window. Instead of pinching off the flower stalks like your "supposed" to, I let them bloom, and every day hummingbirds would visit those tiny flowers, and I could watch them while sitting just inches away. They are wonderful.

Ox, You talking about watching that fig for over a week reminded me of My In-Laws fig tree across the road from here, My mother -inlaw had been watching her last fig of that years crop for the longest time, Well I beat the Ole Gal to it, you talking about being mad, she gave me one heck of a cussin, She lost all her religion right then and there, I asked her where was her religion? She told me, if I opened my mouth one more time, she was going to knock my block off...I did not want my block knocked off so I went back home (here) In her later years she had that terrible Alzheimer disease, She got plumb darn dangerous when I reminded her of that Fig ordeal. Thanks for all the kind comments on my blog. That's my *indoor* creative endeavor. LOL We have a bunch of Monarchs in the yard again today. Not as many as last week, but enough to be fun and pretty. It is breezy today, so they tend to stay on the ground. They look like a fallen leaf until disturbed. Very fun. Here is a link that might be useful: Creative Soul

Rain! It's been so long I can't remember what that is. I have 6 acres so only the area close to the house gets watered. My oak trees "beyond the line" dropped most of their leaves this year. That has never happened before. I've never had to water them in the past. Doing the rain dance here in desert land.
