HOSP behavior?
I have taken care of any HOSP that have shown up. I have not seen or heard a male HOSP near my yard in weeks. However, as of this morning I have a female HOSP frantically building nests (2) in separate compartments in my martin house. Since the males normally find the nesting cavity, and they are not exactly quiet about it, this is a mystery to me. Does anyone have an idea why she is building two nests when there is no male around? I do have an inbox trap for this house and can take care of the problem, but it is very confusing to me. I can recognize the "cheep" of a male HOSP a half mile away, and I have heard none. I got a very clear look at her with the binoculars and this is absolutely a female HOSP.
