The pestilence continues...

Dang HOSP!

Well the box at site #2 has been freed up from HOSP control. Male dispatched this evening. And guess what I saw in the binoculars!......another male HOSP investigating the box! %$^%!!! I hope the blues come back!!!

My other box at that site has a HOSP claimed but it sits in the trees and calls for a mate.... ARGH!!!

I came home to check out one of my nestbox pairs and couldn't help but smile when the male and female bluebird were perched in a tree behind the boxes.

The smile soon faded when I saw one blue chase a male HOSP.

I SWEAR they're hanging around, not claiming a box, and trying to intimidate me! I came out yesterday and the male HOSP silently sat atop one of the boxes, as if to protest!

They're just WAITING for my blues to build a nest so the dirty birds can take advantage of it and take it over!

Luckily the TRES just got back, so I welcome them and HOPE they take a box and help fight off the sparrows.

This has been a strange start to the nesting season. I have my Van Ert handy all the time but these HOSP aren't seemingly dedicated. But the longer they hang around the more bothered I get. I've trapped like 3 total so far.

Anybody else having battles with HOSP going on this season?

~Tim
