They do cut comparable to a 40cc saw. I don't doubt they cut well for smaller jobs. I've recommended electrics to plenty of folks that have seen me cutting and think they might want one to help maintain their <.5 acre plots. if you are going to work in an area with easy access power outlets and not alot of obstacles moving a cord about then electric could be just the ticket. but almost all that will use chainsaw monthly want take it where running more hassle than gas engine.>Electrics can be more dangerous than their gas brethren. Most electrics do not have chain brakes or clutches. If you read warning labels on chaps, they specifically mention that they are not rated for electrics. Not because electric is so much more powerful it is because how chaps work that is not as effective with electrics as with gas saws. In addition to the Amazon reviews, read some reviews in Trade magazines and chainsaw enthusiast websites. Electric chainsaw 2 The recommendation is not based on the cutting ability of the saw for the OP's question but on portability. Add in the potential for firewood usage assuming 16" plus rounds and you can't even consider an electric.

Oh my! I do hope you will be okay...my fingers are crossed. A number of years ago (and I am talking quite SOME time ago!), my Shih Tzu Britanny (yep, we're talking BT as in Before Tifanny!) had a tick. I got a phone call from my groomer who was quite hysterical. "Sherry, just WHERE did you take this precious baby?!" "Huh?" "Britanny had a TICK! I pulled a good chunk of her HAIR off along with it!" "What?! A tick?! I haven't taken her ANYWHERE! Let me call Bill..." ring-a-ding-a-ling "Sweetie? I just got this phone call. Did you take Britanny anywhere for a walk? Someplace unusual?" "We went looking for rabbits." "Rabbits? Where in the heck were you guys looking for rabbits?" "Oh, you know, the Back Bay. Why?" "WELL, I don't know why you were looking for rabbits..." "You know how she likes taking a walk in the Back Bay..." "Yeah, but, RABBITS?" "This bunny hopped by so we thought we'd go check it out." "hmmm...well, I just got a call and am now on my way to go take Brit to the VET'S!!! She got a TICK and I don't even want to tell you just how hysterical the groomer is right now." Needless to say, Britanny was fine. The tick went with me to the veterinarian's, and was promptly identified as a Brown Dog Tick. I still have the tick in a plastic baggy in my freezer. And, as an FYI...Britanny crossed the bridge, oh, over 13 years ago or so... Bill will never live down the tick. Poor guy. ;P So, I do hope, Sandy, that your tick story is as 'easy' as Britanny's (and not Bill's!). CalSherry aka tdogmom

Thanks for the replies regarding the lantana. Yes, I am way down south, near Durant, so it does probably stay warmer down here. Susan, the leaf does stick to the concrete, but it usually comes right off, what doesn't come off, you hit it with a water hose and knock it off. I don't remember how tall the 6 inch pipe was, probably 3 or 4 feet. I guess it would just be up to your individual need as to how tall to make it. I sprayed the inside of the pipe with pam before pouring the quick crete (that's what I used for the pipe). However, it didn't slide out as planned, so hubby took a circular saw and cut it out. He seem to think we can reuse it by duck taping it back together. He thinks duck tape fixes everything, lol. The reason I chose the purple lantana is so it would look good with the bird bath (it's purple). I might try some cuttings this fall. Can't make the plant swap this year, didn't make plans early enough, but I'm looking forward to hearing all about it. Merryheard, I just used portland cement, I have heard that hypertufa isn't very good for bird baths. I think they said the water leaches out pretty fast. That's why I used cement only. The first bird bath I made was a disaster, so some of my experiments fail also. Laura, I planted rhubarb for the first time this year, not to eat, but to make stepping stones. One of mine has died, but the other one has 5 nice leaves on it. I think it may be too hot in Oklahoma for rhubarb, that's why I planted it back in February. Maybe it will hold on until the leaves get big enough for stepping stones. If you are in the northern part of the state, they might to well. Didn't I read somewhere that you aren't suppose to eat them the first year? I will see if I still have the tutoral for the bird bath. I'm having server problems today, just hope I can post this message and the picture of my bb. The lantana was just planted, so it wasn't filled in good yet. This was last summer. This is a great thread. We're not remodeling but building a new house, and man, can I relate to a lot of these. ...you know every lighting fixture, faucet, sink, appliance by memory because you have endlessly researched each one. you freak out your own GC because you can discuss minute details about your house/kitchen from memory down to the 1/8". you have more e-mails from your GC/subs than you do from your friends. you wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat about some critical detail and then go downstairs to e-mail your GC about it right at the moment before you forget.
