I think the stethoscope is a great idea!. I hope your wife never sees me with my three hats and a straw broom anti-bird swooping outfit on - she would really think I was nuts but it might take you off the hook!!

Now that Anita has admitted to wearing an elaborate anti-bird swooping outfit, I will confess that I have a construction hard hat that I sometimes wear when I know I will be dive bombed. Don't get me wrong about my wife, she is as crazy about blues as I am, even letting me keep mealworms in the refrigerator. It's just that 3 of my houses are visible from the road. She is afraid that people driving by, seeing me in a hard hat, creeping up behind a bird house, and listening with a stethoscope, might not fully understand the situation. I think that maybe the only thing missing is me carrying a butterfly net.

And where do you live? May we have your address please? Dave, Harold, where are the cameras? We must get a picture of this loon! hahaha. We've had plenty of confessions over the years about the crazy and funny things we do. Many of them are very good ideas that might be misunderstood by the, ahem, less informed general public!

Oh my Gosh! Too Funny! Everyone thinks we are all crazy hanging funny stuff on and from our boxes, so what is new? My sis is a nurse and I think I will ask her for the stethoscopes as a gift for Christmas.. We will have to get together and play Dr and Mrs. Bluebird Nurse!

I teach composting classes to Master Gardeners. I tell them to drive their trucks down the street on trash day and pick up the bags of leaves that people throw away. They always look at me in horror. I tell them, "Your neighbors are going to talk about you anyway. Give them something interesting to say."

You know, now that I think about it, the first thing people usually ask me is why do I put those pretty streamers on my bird houses. I guess they think I'm just festive. And you're right, the neighbors are going to talk about you. So give them something to remember you by. You could do worse in life than being remembered as the crazy bird person.

Whatever it takes, no matter what other people may think. None of my friends are "normal". They all are extremely interesting, secure, people who would feel cheated to be perceived as uninteresting and boring.

Dr. Birdwoman doesn't sound so bad, actually, it's quite neat!

Crazy is all relative. I know this because all my relatives are crazy. Good thing they have me around to point this out, or they would never know.

I am a pharmacist. I've had a stethoscope for years for checking patients blood pressure. This is the first season I've used it when doing nest box checks (I have one for patients and one for birds). I've only gotten confused once when I told a lady her systolic pressure was fine, and that I could hear a healthy chirping in her diastolic pressure and was sure she would fledge within a couple of days. She thanked me and hurried out the door. It gives me a good feeling when I know I've helped people like that.
