Velvet, Thanks for the info! I read the cell migration information but I am not so sure it isn't too late for that. The Furox is a dry spray and makes and keeps the wound dry, and I think with 5 days of this, I likely am not going to have any success with the cell migration. I will look at her again this evening and see but as of last night, the wound is about the size of a quarter. It seems as though it will heal but I cannot even begin to talk from experience as I was a young child the last time I doctored a chicken or bird. I have great success with the horses with the furox spray keeping away infection and making good clean new tissue. Blackie is feeling much better, tail is normal, color is normal and she is wanting to come out of the pen and go foraging, but due to all the rain and the new rule of no chickens out without us in the yard, she will have to stay in until this weekend. I did read your site before I posted the first time and found it very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to post and maintain it, I apprecited the help when I was in need. We doctor her every evening and I am watching her to make sure no systemic infection sets in. I guess things could have been worse and they could have actually done some muscle damage rather than just torn skin. I am still no more accomodating to those dogs!!! I have my plans for thier "training" to come no where near my house. Too bad they cannot just have responsible owners! New gates and such going up to keep them out too, but since they are small (Jack Russels) they can problaby slip into my property easily enough. I miss my dog who would take on all intruders!

We've been similar to last summer so far - slightly less rain but still near/above normal, and warm, but not oppressive - we've been running a bit above average but no 100+ temps and only a handful of 90+. It's been quite humid, and even though we've had a couple 2-week stretches with little rain, soil moisture is pretty good. We are in a good pattern of storms every few days, some with smaller totals but a good 1"er every 10-20 days or so with smaller amts in between. Should end up about 4" or a bit over for June. As far as drought, the East Coast as a whole seems to be low-risk per what I've read, but a short-term dry spell or 'D0' situation is always a possibility even in a "non-drought" year. Last summer - we went from wet to dry almost overnight around mid July - by Sept 1 crops were wilting (although it happened late enough that most crops yielded OK) and lawns brown, but the local forecast gurus kept denying a drought was imminent...then suddenly they acknowledged it when the US Drought Monitor maps showed most of MD and N. VA in "D0" (abnormally dry) status. Then, as fast as it happened, we got 6" of rain over a few days in early October. Ended the year about 4-6" above normal in 2013. Hi, ladies! It's me - back from the world of very little computer access!!!!! I finally can access the internet on my little laptop, the first time in 3 months, so now I can play as much as I want. It was difficult using my friend's computer for very long at a time without being a nuisance, so it became just easier to not even try most days. Looks like I've got a lot of reading and catching up to do. It's the perfect time to have a bad knee, I guess. Unfortunately, it's my artificial knee, and that's worrisome to me because all I did to start this problem was step carefully (I swear!) down off a curb Sunday afternoon, and ever since then, every time I turn around, I'm reinjuring it. Today, I've just stayed in bed with ice wraps until the man came to hook up my 'puter. I've missed everyone. Looks like the divorce may happen next week now because my lawyer and I feel like almost-x's figures are as close to the truth as we can determine. I'll be glad to have that part of my life behind me. He's been more than unpleasant these last 3 months, and I can't handle any more stress. Back in a day or so once I backread y'all's news!

The pattern is not a D9P, but is strips of fabric sewn in pairs and then cut. However, if you decide on making this watch our for step #6. It says, "Square up one end of the strip set. Cut as many 2-1/2" wide segments from it as possible. Make additional strip sets and cut a total of (30) 4-1/2" segments." Well, I was very carefully following directions one step at a time and saw cut as many 2-1/2" wide segments as possible. This is incorrect. The next sentence is correct, you want 4-1/2" segments. I hadn't planned on a border, so I didn't have additional fabric. I went back today, but they are out of the dark blue. I got a lighter blue that I think will work nicely and I believe I have enough of the yellow to bind. I have a different yellow flannel for the backing. I like the quilting ideas. I definitely haven't perfected my FMQ skills yet, but fortunately it is for a baby who won't know the difference. One of the reasons it sewed up so fast was because the lady at my LGS recommended a fabric spray. After I washed the fabrics, I sprayed and ironed them. It was like starch and the fabric laid so nicely when sewing. However, no sewing until the weekend. Wouldn't it be lovely if I could finish it in one weekend, too? The plant did not come with a tag and I didn't think to ask. I'll run back Saturday and hopefully she'll be back at the market. I know it is not a perennial in in my zone 6, but she said it can come inside to overwinter. The blueish sedum will also have to come inside. Thanks for all your kind comments!
