New Family in the BB House

After my "wacko" BB couple raised and fledged their little brood of three (two eggs did not hatch); you may recall that I posted the next day before I could clean out the nest, I spotted a house wren tossing out the nest material, and had cracked and tossed the two non-viable eggs. I have watched the house like crazy, and a couple of weeks ago a different male/female pair showed up and claimed the box. It seems that they had read the book about BBs, because everything they've done has been picture perfect, exactly by the book. One egg per day, the fifth one today, the female is sitting on the nest now, and the male is so very attentive to her. The previous couple was not as inclined toward each other. The male never fed the female that I saw, but this one feeds her several mealies before eating one himself. They are a lovely couple. I saw the wren back at the house a day or two before the first egg was laid, and I ran out screaming at it. Haven't seen it since. I never see wrens in the garden. This was the first I'd ever seen. Cute bird - evil heart. I just hope the BB male stays around to defend the box. I will be heartbroken if that nasty old wren causes problems for this sweet couple.
