What I do when I get the bumpy leafs I remove them and only leave the last couple of leafs or just the ones that aren't bumpy. Then I give it some miracle grow water soluble plant food once a week. New leafs will grow rapidly. You won't loose it. Just don't over water it right now that its small. Water then wait until soil is on the dry side. yes stick your finger and find out lol. Yes, too much water, probably not enough light. These in my view are only temporary plants, one of the first a novice might buy. If the browning on the base is corking, as Rina suggests, it is not a problem. But if you touch that area, and it is soft, it is root rot, and you need to cut above it, to just green growth. Let it sit out for a week or so, for the cut to heal, then repot into a dry, well draining medium, and do not water until you see active top growth. As I alluded to earlier, these generally do not live too long. Either the rootstock rots, or the graft fails, and you get rot on the top. Christopher

Thank you! I read Rachel Carson's book long ago and it had a profound effect on me. That was before my mother was diagnosed with Cancer of the Pancreas. She died five months after she was diagnosed. Two years ago, my older sister died of Glioblastoma. She died less than two months after her diagnosis. I believe if we don't try to save our environment, not only will we suffer, but our children and grandchildren will also.

Eh, she's o.k. I guess. I've seen short pieces of her show here and there. I'm talking 5 min. or less. I prob wouldn't like watching the whole show all the time. Now Oprah on the other hand, I can not STAND that woman. All she did was talk over people and look at the camera to make sure it was on her. I will never in a million years understand how she got so popular and ridiculously rich. Everyone always says what a class act she is, not in my opinion. Her shows were trash in the beginning, like Jerry Springer, Maury etc. trash, now that she's filthy rich everyone thinks she classy. Nope, she can just buy expensive stuff, lol.
