Hi peggy You may have a crinum, there is lots of variables when trying to identify them, Ive got a few and they all look different sometimes, especially without flowers. The other thing you may have received is a Hymenocallis, another relative of amaryllis and crinums. Whatever you have whenever it flowers lets have a look at a pic. Happy new year andy

Tony, I see you are also in Upland. If your tree is older like mine, it is even more likely it is a Fuerte since that was the most common commercial variety in this are until about 30 years ago. Russell? I don't think it even exists in CA. I don't think your fruit resembles pictures I have seen online for that variety anyway. Your picture is a perfect example of a 2/3 mature pyriform shaped avocado. I have found quite a few pictures online for a Fuerte that seem wrong in shape to me. Some say the shape is Pyriform, like your sample. Some say it is Obovate. I'm a little curious to know how your plant #4 is doing, M_Medina, as my friend is having similar problems with his fuzzy plant (leaves getting yellow and falling)... What did you repot your plant in? Is it better now? I would have liked to help with you questions regarding the roots, but I am too new to plants for that; I'd say they look okay although they do seem short... and too compact? Actually, it looks like a cutting that is growing roots... but someone else might know better!
