My bluebird Is going crazy

I am new here... HELP.... So I had a bluebird nest with and we had 4 eggs in there, and three of them hatched. But somehow they all died.... Sad day today. But nevertheless I had to go check on them and that is how I found them in the nest. One of the eggs looks as though it tried to hatch. It got a little cold a day or two ago and I think it was hypothermia. But anyways onto the problem at hand. The female bluebird is going crazy and is flying up to our windows at our house and is continuously flying into them and pecking at the windows.... Has this happened to anyone and is there a way to get her to stop? I have taken the hatchlings out of the nest and disposed of them in the most humane way I could. But I can't seem to get her to stop. Anyone got any ideas?

When a bird does this the most likely reason is it is seeing it's own reflection and "thinks" it is different bird in their territory. They are not smart enough to realize that it is their reflection in the window. There is not much you can do about this other than try to get rid of the windows ability to cause reflection by covering it with a blind or something like that.

You're in Canada? I'm so glad to know that ferns grow that far north! I've always thought they were a southern plant. There's a change my husband & I will move to Michigan so now I know I can have ferns there! Great pic - they are huge!

The small potted cutting that I got at a plant exchange in June grew happily outside the rest of the summer doubling its' height. When I brought it in for the winter, and stopped watering much, it suddenly produced a Y and set some buds. All but one of them dropped off. The bud that didn't drop got huge and actually opened!! I was thrilled. Not much fragrance, but it was beautiful! I hope yours' does well for you.

I live in Stafford County, near Fredericksburg. Our bluebirds stay year 'round. I keep a warmer in one of the bird baths and feed them meal worms and I see them every day, especially when it is bad weather. If you see them near your nest box now they are checking out potential nesting places for next Spring. Mine come by every day and will chase away any other bird (bluebird or otherwise) that shows interest in the box. You may not see them when freezing temps arrive (unless you feed them and provide them water like I do), but they are nearby, most likely hunkered down from the cold wind in evergreens. Dave

I don't think rabies among bobcats is too common. Why did you think it might have rabies? We've had several experiences with them. A few years ago, we woke early up one morning and caught them eating our guineas. They slaughtered almost all of them. We also see one occasionally (few times year) in the "back yard" around the pond. Around here, bobcats and coyotes are easily spooked and run at the sight of a human. They only time I get a little creeped out is at night when a lot of coyotes are "whooping it up" very close by (very, very close by).
