Yea...I have an egg!!

Well..she finally laid the first egg this morning. I am so excited. I was afraid they would not come back since the hosp gat the first eggs. I added the sparrow spooker for the first time this morning. I hope she will take to this. I guess I will find out tomorrow if she lays another one. If she has a hard time with the spooker, what should I do? I do not want to take it down cause I don't want the HOSP to get these eggs. I will keep everyone posted on everything.

I have never had a bird reject the nest because of the sparrow spookers. I've used them on Black-capped Chickadee, Tree Swallow, and for the first time this year, a Bluebird nest. Never had one do anything more than tug on the mylar, and then ignore it. She may try to pull some off, but she'll get used to it. Congratulations on your first egg!

Congrats on that!

I wish you the best of luck! I just lost 5, 6 day old nestlings...It's killing me! This year the want of instant gratification is what's hurting! I just wanted the 1st brood to make it and have some new blues in my area...So Sad!

I'm glad that you got them back and that they're still alive! I think it's a shame that honest people are the ones who have to be worried about being banned by Gardenweb...it should be the other way around! Especially when it was an obvious scammer who ripped off probably close to 25 or 30 people!

Very nice.. I too love the color on the second better but that ruffle on the first is wonderful. I learned my lesson about hasty judgements and have been super pleased with most of my second year blooms even when I wasn't so sure the first time a seedling bloomed. I am just a hobby gardener so I don't have thousands of seedlings to evaluate -- making time my friend.I would be proud of both of those.. : ) Shelly

Hey thanks Donna for the good advice- as I have viewed the hummingbird migration map I am noticing that it looks like they are a few days ahead of time everywhere this year. I look at my feeder every time I pass that window! There are not many things flowering here yet and it is still pretty cold at night-so my boys will probably need a little help when they get here-which I will gladly give!

We have 300 kids, two separate pool areas for various swim teams from 7-10:00, going on, They do a good job herding them out of the lap pool, for us ladies, at 9:30. Always glad when school starts to we can reclaim the big pool! Then we have to get out as the lappers are standing there waiting on us to get out, as the lifeguards starts putting in the lap ropes as soon as class ends.
