Flickers mating

I just watched the most amazing display! Sorry, I wasn't able to take a picture. The two flickers did a sort of bobbing dance, facing each other, about 6 inches apart on the top of a brick wall. This lasted about 5 minutes. Then, they both flew to the ground, continued to bob for a minute or two, then mated on the ground. They are such nervous birds -- even if we move quickly inside our kitchen they will fly off the feeder, so I don't imagine this mating behaviour is seen often. I feel very lucky.
