Where can I get a purple martin call?

Last year a man with many bird houses and birds told us to get a purple martin call to attract them to our martin house. There was a store near dh's work and he drove over yesterday only to find that the place was closed. We can order one online, but today I looked out and there was a martin sitting on top of the house. Is there somewhere online that we can download a call to an MP3 tonight?

I don't know how downloadable these are (I'm not the most computer-literate bloke) but here are a couple sites with songs/calls:

I didn't think I had any bob cats until I saw a dead one on the road by my mailbox a year or more ago. They are a beautiful animal. Someone took the body. I was going to get a picture when I got back from town and when I came home it was gone. It had really big feet and a spotted coat.

McMann...Purple Martins will lay from 4-8 eggs; 5-6 being the norm. The bigger and better their nesting cavity, the more eggs they'll lay and the more chicks they'll fledge. I offer "Supergourds" from the PMCA. They're 10-inches in diameter. Yes, they'll fledge at about 28 days old. They may, or may not, hang around for a week or so and then they'll prepare for the migration. They fly along with their parents and join large "roosts" of other PMs. They'll form larger and larger colonies until they're ready to set off for some serious travel. Purple Martins in Florida, Texas, and other southern areas have already started their migration. Each fall they fly back to Brazil where they overwinter, molt, eat, and generally just "be birds." They do not breed or nest there. In the spring they'll migrate back to the area close to where they hatched and start a new breeding season. My little guys will go to Brazil and back by next spring. I hope to get them banded so I'll know if they come back to this same spot. It's a complicated process and so far I've not found a licensed bander. Actually, SOYD is mainly yellow with a reddish/Pink stripe up the middle w bleeding of the reddish mid-petal. This is an older hybrid of Ko's. You can get Grafted trees from Rinoa in Taiwan. Send her a note and she will send catalogue to you. rinoa.ch@gmail.com Yellow are not all that stable and color will fade quite quickly. Sometimes having in a filtered light situation just before the buds open can help keep color darker. This is one of my favorites from Rinoa. Thanks orrin. Dh drove into the city and found a place to buy a CD today. All the websites that we found last night had short songs and we need a long one. They say to play the CD from 4 am to 6 am to attract the birds.

Hi marti,
This is a subject with which I am well familiar as this will be my 4th season trying to establish a Purple Martin colony. Many of the older ASY (After second year) birds are back to their nesting colony sites now, and the older males are soon beginning to "dawnsing" in order to attract in the younger Subadult (SY) birds to their sites. In the Purple Martin migration, the older birds arrive home first and the younger ones come 4-6 weeks later. So, playing the Dawnsong CD calls them in! It really does work. Now, there is another CD available called the "Daytime Chatter" CD. It is just a compilation of typical colony sounds and can be played all throughout the day. I have linked the PMCA site with info on that CD. I am in zone 7a, and the subadults are not back up this way yet, but they would be coming into your zone. Oh, I do hope that you get some to stay!! Because I erected a Purple Martin site, I now have nesting Tree Swallows and Great Crested Flycatchers returning to my yard each year. They were attracted in by the Purple Martin housing and sounds. I originally offered a Purple Martin house and some gourds, but have now gone to offering gourds only, as the house seemed to attract the House Sparrows more.
