...since I posted. Last night I finally got a camera with pretty serious zoom capability and a fast shutter speed. These are my first photos.

Very nice photos! I particularly like the first one with the Red-belly looking a bit like a seal with a red scarf around its neck.

The birds really seem to like those wooden posts - a good staging area.

Tom...I'm going to sound like a teacher giving you homework. Please set up your messaging so that we can email you through Houzz. That way you (or I) don't put our address and precious information out there for all the weirdos to see. After all, I might get signed up for even more junk mail! You did great putting a picture of Amarillo up. You might edit your name. Many of us do it this way, for example: TommyTomatoes z9. If you put your U.S. hardiness zone behind your name then we know more about you. After all, I'm in zone 5 and lots of things you would consider perennial die out here. It also helps us connect with people of similar zone. Put something on your wish list. Anything. Specific. General. What you want or don't want. Examples: Any veggie seeds Tomato Seeds, Celebrity or Beefsteak No Cactus seeds please Any red flowers Named irises (Be as specific or general as you want. Frankielynn, I didn't move far, just to Springfield, MO. I actually moved twice last year. The neighbors at my first place were awful and purposely destroyed my plants. I am honestly surprised and grateful that any of them came back this year!! My newer place has better neighbors, more trustworthy. Just less room. Djacobz, I love First Frost, so I wouldn't mind it being one. I just hate when they might be labeled wrong is all! LOL!! Yours is beautiful! My older one came back but I don't think it's going to make it. It's looking declined and sickly. Stupid, old, neighbors!! It was as stunning as yours, though. Steve, I had a Blue Ivory for a couple of years, part of the patio garden rebuild cluster I bought. My neighbors killed it and it didn't come back this year. I was so upset, so I have been looking for it. But, my other one had much larger margins, like yours. That was why I question this new one. But, you may be right, only time will tell.

Great pics. Esp. the first one, that woodpecker is looking tough. I think it was on this forum someone once said woodpeckers are like "wanna rumble?" & I always think that when they intimidate other birds....The only time I've seen a woody scared is when there must have been a hawk in the tree-he stayed stock still right on the suet block for almost 30 minutes.

The flicker gave lots of angles for viewing, and I like the one w/2 different woodpeckers. Cardinal & nuthatch round it out nicely, we're only missing a chickadee, where was he? jk Thanks for posting.

A friend told me this morning that he saw bluebirds yesterday in Sioux City, IA. The Robins have been here a week or so, and I'm thinking the plants will be breaking dormancy in four weeks.

Hopefully some new birds will arrive soon.
