Got baby blues, and housesparrows got after them

I put up a very quickly made momentary "sparrow spooker" (made from a drinking straw and some mylar), while I tried to figure out something better.

Ended up using a very skinny dowel with a wire coathanger attached (drilled a very tiny hole in the dowel and put the straightened end of the coathanger thru). Bent the coathanger into an open oval. Put a bunch of mylar strips on the wire. It's windy here this evening, so it is really blowing more than fluttering.

I watched and momma blue went in after going past it over and over for at least ten minutes.

Have not seen a sparrow try to bother the box since, but then, once I saw momma go in, I turned my attention to some other things (setting up the repeating sparrow trap).

This is the first time I've had baby blues in any of the boxes, and I sure hope this works...

Have any of y'all had success using a spooker?

Thanks much.
