birdfeeder webcam

14 years ago

Hi all,

I wanted to share some photos with you taken by a regular webcam mounted above my platform birdfeeder. Some tech specs:

camera: USB Microsoft LifeCam Cinema 720p HD Webcam ($30 at Amazon);

50ft USB2.0 Active repeater / extension M/F cable ($25);

oldish Win 7 laptop;

webcam free very capable software: Yawcam.

The Yawcam allows you to program motion detection and save/stream the video feed to a webpage. So, basically, I can see the closeup of the feeder on any screen, on a web page. It used javascript for that so you can see it on am iPad too :) You can choose a resolution and the size displayed.

So far, I am very happy! The camera produces decent images but I wish they were of a higher resolution/quality, I guess I am spoiled by SLRs :)

What do you think? What is your experience?

A question: how do I attach several photos to a post? So far, I managed to find how to attach one only :(

Thanks!
