Hi everyone....thanks again for the responses. I'm sad to say that the Quaker parrot did not survive. It died on it's own at the avian clinic this evening after incubation care and other vet stuff. I'm really bummed. :( Apparently, it had major internal injuries and some of the swelling put pressure on the spine which caused the paralysis. They think it flew into the side of a building or something - but not recently...several days ago. The vet also confirmed it was actually a wild parrot and NOT a pet/tamed parrot. The extent of its injuries is what made it seem so docile and tame. The eyes and feet indicate tame or wild (...you probably already know this Manature) - dark eyes/feet are wild parrot indicators. I know I tried and so did the others to help (the Florida West Coast Avian Society rescue group tried and the vet clinic). It just sucks sometimes that you can't save them all no matter what you do. :( Anyway, this is the name of the group that will do parrot rescue and have a bird focus. Thanks! Nothing I've bought and tried so far has worked-at least one Pine Siskin was killed a two weeks and there are window strikes every day as panicked feeder birds flee passing accipiters. Once I heard a thump on the window, quickly followed by a glass-shaking crash. I looked up in time to see the underside of a Sharp-shinned Hawk peeling off the glass. I ran to the window, but he flew away.

Brain swelling is what I've been thinking. When I attempt to pull out it's wing, he tries flapping them and I still can't see anything. I have tried giving it water but will try again. Do you have any idea what I can give it to eat? I don't know what to do for him but if he's dying, I'd rather him die in the house where it is warm and safe, rather than dying outside in the elements. He doesn't seem to be in any type of distress, but who knows, I know nothings about injured birds. Thank you for trying to give me some guidance, he's so helpless and fragile, it just breaks my heart.

I did read about the ribbons on another bird site and tried that. I put some up and the birds ignored them. Maybe that was because all I had at the time was white and that's what I put up. Maybe I should have gone with another color. The advice about the wind chimes got me to thinking. I have a wind chime inside the patio door. The glass in it is blue and when the sun hits it, it sparkles. Do you think that would attract the birds? Maybe I should move it. I never thought of that when I put it up. Guess I'll have to check and see if birds are attracted to certain colors. Thanks for the advice.
