If they are completely dried out or rotted, they may be goners. But take a good look at them. I thought I lost Midnight Bayou when I saw the entire top part of the plant had browned out and died, but near the crown there were little signs of life, little purple buds poking out. I'm going to grow it in a pot for a while and see how it does. I think the winter wet, and too much snow did it in, but didn't kill it completely. And it was looking so good last summer. Bummed me out. At least there is still some hope. Karen

Another story :-) We planted a woods dug red at my next door neighbors several years back. It was a hot spell during a period of drought, later in the season when it was leafed out. Not a great time to be transplanting trees and my neighbor didn't take care of it very well. That one died at the top but then the next spring it sprouted again from the root. Grew quite well after that and is a really nice tree today. After transplanting, a tree can take a few weeks for the roots to settle down and start working well and another few weeks for new sprouts to develop. So be patient. I really thought I had killed the one shown in the picture.

Hey guys, Thanks for thinking and praying for us. Yes, Lake Charles is forecast to get a lot more rain and the wind hits us tonight. Harvey is coming right up to Lake Charles. This is his 3rd hit on the Gulf coast and we're pretty tired of him! Hopefully, Harvey will get tired and just leave us with a quick hit and go away. For the month of August we have had only 2 days without rain. So, we are saturated and the water has nowhere to go. I have tried reaching out to May/lowspark but we've not connected. Her area, in Houston, was one of the hardest hit. Water above every roof in that neighborhood. I do know that they had a mandatory evacuation for that area so I feel certain she got out in time. I'm sure you all have seen the news. Houston is in a catastrophic devastated way! Many of my friends and family are suffering and it will be many years till they can get back to some normalcy. We are going to be ok because we are very high, on a bluff, but surrounding areas are not high up. My heart is going out to all in this area and the state of Texas. Believe me, we can feel the love coming from all over. Continue to send it please!

I am a fabricator. A statement like "Quartz is a manmade material. There are several companies that make it," reveals the success the manufacturers of the various petrochemical resin based engineered stone products have had getting the public to call their product "quartz". Quartz is a very hard naturally occurring mineral. The engineered stone people promoted the use of the term "quartz" as it made their product seem less artificial. No engineered stone manufacturer wants a consumer to consider their product the countertop equivalent to natural stone as naugahyde is to leather although that is an apt comparison. The marketing was particularly absurd when some OEM's attempted to market their product as a "green" alternative to natural stone. So ... Cambria, Silestone, Caesarstone, Hanstone and many others are accurately termed "engineered stone". Engineered stone is also an appropriate term for products such as Dekton and Neolith although those materials have significantly different material properties than "quartz".
