I would say things look good. Calif takes longer than east because of the cooler spring and the indian summer. I usually smile at the flowers and then cut the inflo off and put in a vase so the plant can focus on rooting and leaf building and not waist too much energy on flowers. You can also take a 5" wide strip of bubble wrap long enough to go around your pots and put it around in the evening with a piece of duct tape. Take it off in the day. This will increase the rooting speed and is not that much trouble. Otherwise, you should see leaves by early August. Bill

boy yours look good and strong. I agree with Bill on the inflo, butttt. I just cannot do that. As you can see, I have a tiny inflo blooming, leaving coming. I have 14 cuttings, these are a few.

Note::: See the one cutting, came out the other morning, it had grew a 8" wide leaf!!! just stared at it. Boy hope the others get behind this one. Is Jeanne Morange Jr.

Karen- watch the leaves on that flowering cutting. If they seem to stay the same, cut the inflo or your plant will not root well. The flowers on a cutting are usually very small and not worth the cost of an underdeveloped root system. I just cut the inflo off of my dazzler and within two days the leaves took off. Bill

On that little yellow, is Paul Weissch..Couple weeks ago cut the bottom of the trunk about 6" , was burned all the way through at the base near soil.. Then re-planted it..flowers started opening. has no leaves..but now the side claws are growing taller and on the sides.

ouch..will cut off the inflo. Wanted to see what it looked like.

Hi Rick,
I forgot about using the toilet paper roll, had two plants burn badly at the soil line. Got hotter than I realized in the sun. I had to cut both of them off..was dried all the way through, so lost the bottom length and above burn. I took them out of the west sun and have moved them to get the morning afternoon light. Will take them longer to leaf out, but don't want to lose any if possible. AS you can see I put in paper cups, or paper rolled, etc to keep the squirrels out, can up root instantly.

Yes, I too mist, Have watered lightly the one plant with 4 to 5" leaves..watching it carefully is a more expensive cutting Katie Morange.

basics... what the heck is "inflo"??
Also, I'm really in the dark as from where to take the new cuttings.

I'm glad to hear that my cuttings are looking okay. I will
cut off the inflo on the cutting with the two flowers (Celadine). The one behind it (Yellow Twirl), the claws are wrapped around the inflo quite tightly. I don't want to damage the claws. Thanks for all the help you have given me.

Hi daviddurant,
An inflo (inflorescence) is the flowering part of the plant which usually forms the flower cluster. The main stem that the inflo is attached to I believe is called the peduncle. This I learned from Jim Little's book, "Growing Plumerias in Hawaii". Someone with a lot more experience in these plants will have to help you with your "cuttings"
question.

A lot of my cutting are from March..so am watching them to total dry out. I have when warm out, put water around the edge, spray depending on the heat. Today was hot, so moved them out on hot concrete..so darn slow. 2 or 3 are leafing out. One that has leaves, have watered and lightly fed. so hope for it, couple others have lightly watered. Do not remember it ever taking this long to leaf out on cuttings.. where I am, is hot, then cool..odd weather. I also have a almost 4' cutting trying to root, a celadine that dried out. Not sure how to handle it, the roots dried out, so not sure if it has water in the plant.

trying..get confused on the cuttings, what to do, hope for the best..you are a couple weeks ahead of me. afraid to water. No leaves are big enough to the 6" as Bill says "to water"

Patience, ladies. Here in So.Cal the big leaf push comes in the last two weeks of July and into August. This is when your cuttings should become ready to water if they are on time. Some will be slow. Keep misting. As long as the base is not rotting, things are slowly progressing. Bill
