But the birds are IN amongst the geranium, are they not? Will she be able to wrap the geranium without wrapping the birds? And if she manages to wrap it, how will the mother react? Hmm... Mehearty, does the basket hang under the porch roof, or is it farther out and exposed? Can it be moved further under the roof, like next to the house wall? Would that be enough to protect the geraniums? Is it possible to hang something over the basket from the roof (as opposed to laying it directly on the basket), possibly leaving a bit of access for the mother to get in and out? I hope you figure this one out - for the sake of the geraniums and the birds! :) Dee

I have delayed the robin again girls. I am so sorry but I have been in the bed on and off for the last few days with a terrible headache from my allergies. For some reason they are trying to do me in this year! I will get it out first thing in the am. Was hoping to drop it in the mail on my way to the doctors office tomorrow, but they called me back and cancelled my appointment. So I will suffer all the way to the mailroom! LOL! Well The robin landed back home!!!! OH MY GOSH I DONT BELIEVE HOW BIG THIS THANG GOT!!! YOu guys the gifts are wonderful I loved each one of them!! IN one there was chocholate and needless to say it is gone I also recieved a realy nice tera cotta sun plaque that I will hang out side on the house today.a package of plant lables the metal kind , a very very cute angel windchime, a spring time wind sock,three candles,wallpaper border , miracle grow plant food ,a tea towel, gosh the list goes on and on . What a blast I had opening this bird! I read the journal and loved it! Most of you are about tha same age as me ,wich I thought was pretty kool. Amanda thanks for the pic ,what a nice looking family! You look alot like my lil sis.8 years younger and 5 inches taller than me. (I am only 5' tall). Went thru the seeds and took out what I would like to grow and I have posted to give the rest to two newbies. I could never use all those seeds!! Could you put the mealies into an enclosed feeder so that Robins can't take all the food? I have one with 1 1/2 inch wire that keeps the larger birds out. I do sometimes get a Red-bellied woodpecker that tries to get in. While he's there the other birds don't go near it. But he gives up eventually and then the Blues can feast on the mealworms.
