I've seen the blues a couple of times this Spring in our yard. I did not have good luck last year because of the HOSPS.
I got a PVC birdhouse from Gilbertson and mounted it on the conduit as per the instructions. It does have a slight movement when the wind blows. It's anchored 2 feet deep (with rebar inside the conduit) so it's not going to blow away. Will the BB's nest in it if it's not completely still?
Also, I have another cedar BB house up in the yard, which the BB's have checked out (along with the HOSPS). If I were to take that one down, will the BB see the new one when they come back, or will they just move on? I really would like to remove the old one since I know the HOSPS like it.
I live in upstate NY, and last year it was in May when they started nesting here. I want to be prepared this time and hopefully the HOSPS won't like the PVC house.
Any comments?
Thanks
