I have a kitchen that is about the same as what you are planning: a U Kitchen with the DW at a 90 degrees angle from the sink and 61 " between the two sides of the U. So I will comment using my personal experience. While I'd wish to able to put the DW where mama_goose is, the DW as it is is perfectly usable. I have been living with it for 3 years without falling or tripping and I have gotten used very rapidly to turning to put the dishes from the sink to the DW. My only question would be where will you put plates and glasses when you take them out of the DW. This is the main question because if they are on the wall next to the stove, it will make difficult for somebody else to empty the DW while you cook or even to set the table. So, it really will make that a one person kitchen. Same goes for the coffee maker/ toaster if those are things you use. We have all that next to the DW and so the cook can prep while somebody else is using the other side. While 60"is not wide, my husband and I have been able to use the kitchen together without problems. Sure, it would be nicer to have more space, but building a small kitchen is about compromises. The only real limitation is that you cannot both wash dishes and prep, but this is mostly due to the fact you have only one sink. I would find the distance between the sink and the fridge more bothering, but there is probably no other solution within the limits of your actual kitchen. And by all means use the area right of the fridge as a landing zone. Good luck.

Put a portable temporary closet in the tub and call it good. You do not touch or alter a thing permanently. It will cost you way more if you ruin it with holes in walls

As far as I'm concerned, it a no-brainer. The bedroom with bath is a much wiser choice. you can use the space for a rec room anyway! Just a suggestion, if you can. Pocket doors Closet in Bedroom 3 Owners Bath & Owners Closet Washer and Dryer: Make sure there is a drain and shallow tub is installed, in case there is a leak. It's not a tub, can't think of the correct term for it. But something, in case of water leak. Don't do bi-folds on the washer and dryer closet. Door 2 regular doors.

This is our basement bunkhouse at a rental cabin I manage. Except for the double/single one, they're perp to the walls. If we had room I'd also put that one perp to the wall. You may not have space to do that and you need rails on both sides when you do. You may find it easier to make them up if your fitted sheet and top sheet are sewed together a the bottom so it is a simpler operation. We place two folded flat sheets on each bunk and guests make up the ones they use. We encourage bringing sleeping bags to simply throw on them - kids like that! We keep coverlets on them and shams on the pillows, but don't make them up. Saves time for the housekeeper and guests have not complained. If your boys are going to reach their teens in this space, check on extra long ones and use XL mattresses, which only come in single sizes. I put regular mattresses on these instead of thin bunk mattresses.
