Greetings, Now that I have my plan established and my seed selected and my concerns about the Maple tree resolved I would like to discuss another concern of mine and that is two weeds that show up in my yard on a yearly basis. I have been maintaing a thick/green Sunny mix for 3 years now however I noticed that I get pretty good infestations of the following weeds every year, even If I kill them they just keep coming back: White Clover: http://www.turf.uiuc.edu/weed_web/descriptions/whiteclover.htm No matter what I do I can never get rid of the White Clover. I spray it with ortho Clover killer, keep the grass thick and green but it always seems to find a way to infest a few areas. Common Yarrow: http://www.turf.uiuc.edu/weed_web/descriptions/commonyarrow.htm This stuff I can't figure out. You can't just pull one piece out at a time. They seem to be connected under the turf. Even though this site says a thick maintained turf should keep them out, I never can. I try to kill them off but the keep coming back. They appear in the same spot every year and get thick and green then start to overcrowd the grass. So naturally my concern is that I don't want these weeds to show up in my new KBG turf next year. How do I ensure that they will be gone come next summer and that they don't infest my new KBG?

I just now came to the forum to ask this very question. I watched what I believe was an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail BF deposit eggs on my large Rue plant this afternoon! Is this possible? I've found two eggs; one is pictured below. Does this look like one of their eggs? Most of the time, she was laying on the blooms and I've not been able to spot the eggs because the blooms are various shades of yellow and with rough surfaces. I took photos of the two eggs I found and I pinched off the leaves and put them in a container, as I don't want the wasps to get them. I so hope this is what they are as the little cats are so cute. I've only seen one little cat at a native plant nursery and at that time, I didn't know what the mature butterfly looked like. Most of the host plants mentioned are the trees and I don't know as I've ever seen it mentioned that this butterfly would use Rue. She was huge and so graceful. I watched her checking out plants in our neighbors yard, then she came to our yard, testing the plants until all of a sudden, she began laying eggs on the Rue. Mary Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Egg on Rue?

I'll put you down as a participant. Should I include a first name? We have about 15-20 signed up now. The MSU-Ext did a great job advertising...

I've had a TRES here since Saturday the 17th, in Central WI. Monday there were two but now we are back to one again. It isn't doing much house hunting yet, just hanging around. Will be the first year the Blues (that are house hunting already) will get their choice of nestboxes cause normally the TRES are here first. Lisa, I am messing with two friggin male HOSP, got one with the BB gun yesterday but I missed the other one this morning, feathers flew but he flew away just fine. Have the vanert set for him now as he was in a box just a bit ago. Ugh! Donna
