Babies in S.E. Michigan

Babies Blue Birds hatching today. 4 eggs and so far 3 babies. Will check in a few day and see if the other has hatched.

I will put out meal worms-It raining, so I suppose the few I put out today probably drown before the blue birds found them.

Wood ducks due to hatch in a few days and baby Robins in 2 nests in the yard. Spring is here.

Spring is here all right!

Have baby Robins all around here in Ohio. First hummingbird this morning! Blues are sitting on 5 eggs. Same for Tree Swallows.

We got a heat wave coming! Gonna be close to 90 by Thursday.

Good luck with the babies! Wish I had them already!

Congratulations Connie. Sounds like you're in for a great time. Let us know if all the Bluebird eggs hatch. I do envy you for having a pond and Wood Ducks. I just love them. That must be so fun!

There were flowering plants there in the past, before the herbivores found them. It's a good thing, because they can't spread any further if they can't make seeds. The BONAP map shows them in Ohio, but not Michigan, so they are on the move northward. Shade might be affecting the flowering too? Sylvestris smells like parsley. Caucalis smells like licorice, but the internet doesn't have much info about caucalis, because sylvestris gets all the attention.
