Our nesting pair

Hi all,

It's been awhile since our last post... so a few recent photos to share.

This is Missy, our Mommabird:

And this is her Mr.B:

They've been together a lot lately:

But they still have 4 fledges (2ea. male & female) who continue to cling to the old homestead. Here are the parents and 3 of the 4 kids in one shot:

We expect the remaining youngins to get run off soon tho, because Missy & Mr.B have work to do here:

Great shots Kenn! I love the one of the five of them together! When do they start nest building in your area? We won't see any of that until late April/early May around here. Keep us updated how your pair is doing and how long they let the kids stay around.

OK, I didn't think we could post xrated photos on here. LOL!! Great shots Kenn!! Let us know when you see that first egg. Here in WI I am just excited when I see a Blue, no real house choosing yet. Have seen several around but not staying yet. Nestbuilding around here normally doesn't start until mid to late April. Donna

I had that happen also. My young cooper used to take a long "soak" in my bird bath - then preen himself on the fence. I miss him. I have no idea why they "move on"

Your pics came through just fine. All three are sharp too. What kind of camera did you use? Our BB's are working on their second nesting for this year. Actually the first was a dud and I removed the eggs and nest after she had set on them for 23 days. Two days later she had another nest built and now she's been sitting on these eggs for five days. Hi Donna - Mr.B has begun feeding Missy everyday again now... and they've both been fiddling with bits a grass in each others' view. We had our first egg in March last year (Easter Sunday in fact!)... I won't be long now! :)

Ha Cathy - Thanks I guess... ;) Real pictures of real birds I assure you. We're very lucky to have so many closeup photo opportunities, and sometimes our common birds come out uncommonly lovely when seen up close.

Kathy - Of course all birds pose... the trick is to have them in focus and in your viewfinder for those fleeting moments. Our birds get union scale with a 15% mealworm bonus for each Gallery shot. ;)

Beautiful photos, Kenn! (as always!)

My two are in and out of their favorite box like crazy the last few days. Ran off the "extras" about 2 weeks ago. I hope they'll hold of building for a few more weeks but, as we all know, that is beyond our control! :D

Hi Janie May,

Our juvies are all (4) still here as of this morning. But Missy has been more insistent to discourage one or both of the girlbirds lately. The parents perch on and take turns going in and out of the box. Mr.B is feeding her quite often, and they are both picking up bits of grass now. No nest-building yet, but it shouldn't be long before they begin.

I've just posted several new bluebird family shots in the Slideshow, we hope some of you will enjoy. :)
