Should I Be Concerned??

For some unknown reason, activity at the nestbox has really slowed. Mama and Daddy Blue continue to perch in a nearby tree, supposedly guarding the box...Daddy will fly down to the box but Mama stays put and I haven't actually seen her at the box in awhile. Last season, nestbuilding began on 3/13 so it would seem activity would be increasing, not decreasing! I'm getting concerned that they might not nest at all! Too, there's another male hanging around from time to time!

I thought we would be well into nesting season before my cozillion questions began, but here I am!!!LOL!

LOL Donna. Maybe they have made their final decision on the box and are now just waiting for the proper time to start the whole nestbuilding/baby making process. LOL! I have a few months to wait until I start questioning everything again.=)

Donna, I forget where you are located. Be glad you are seeing activity at the nestbox! It sounds like they are very interested. Maybe the female is still deciding on her mate, or maybe the other male is a youngster from last year who has not yet found a nest site (or not yet chased off by the parents).
Then again, maybe there is more activity going on than you realize, when you are not looking. Most activity will be in the morning hours, and it depends on the weather for when they begin nestbuilding (warmer, dry weather). Just the fact that he keeps going to the nestbox encouraging her, is encouraging. Check the nestbox occasionally too, to see if there is any building going on.

Most likely the cracks are due to the house settling over the years. If house is on clay soil it may have dried out too much. Watering around the founation on regular basis will help eleminate the shifting of a house.

Definitely looks like mouse damage and droppings. Maybe its a good thing, you decided to buy a new range. You could have had a fire there. Call an electrician and have that all redone, and make sure this time, its also mounted in the wall, rather than just laying behind the range, where it could get kinked and deteriorate. You need to know if the new range, has the same type of plug on it, so you know exactly which range outlet you need. That one is old, so chances are, your new range wont work with it anyway. The papers that come with the range, will be needed for the electrician. Those papers tell the electrician, what your new range needs to operate properly.

The first photo shows leaf distortion I generally regard as herbicide drift damage. Any chance herbicide has been used in the vicinity? Neighbors too.

If you never buy nor use anything carrying the prop 65 warning you will find yourself without most modern products. On the other hand unless you eat the ac unit you have nothing to worry about.

BlueBars, I'm in East Central MS. and our weather has been very warm and dry for several weeks, however a "cool", nasty front is moving in this weekend, so I doubt I'll see any action for the next few days. Who knows what they are thinking! Hopefully, in the next two to three weeks, they'll get down to business! I anxiously await!!!!
