Gorgeous pics and I particularly love the door arbor, what a great idea!! In fact you guys on this forum are full of brilliant ideas, I can't wait to explore more!! Thank you bamboo-rabbit and John, they are hard to see when you look up they are tiny, and against the sky it is hard to make out details.... I think most of them have gone, overnight..... they were here most of April but it appears they are heading for greener pastures.... maybe they will be back next year, that Mulberry really had a bumper crop this year..... This morning I was looking out my window and there were several white-throated sparrows eating dandelion seeds. I got to look at them pretty good for awhile. I'm thinking the bird that hit the window was a juvenile white throated sparrow. The feather patterns are similar, and the orange tint I was seeing might have been the juvenile version of the yellow at the start of the eye line. I have had so many birds in my yard, eating various weeds recently. I guess there is something good coming from our lawn mower breaking down. haha I'm tempted to leave alot more of the yard grow up, but there's things like septic field, geothermal lines, etc. to have to worry about. Anyhow......I think my mystery is solved and I can move on to the next one! :)

We don't get a lot of variety up here so when I saw the sleek head above the windowsill, I knew we had one. What was it? I wasn't sure but I hope it comes back. I now know it was a female Redstart. We usually just get sparrow, crows, starlings, cowbirds, swallows, the usual crew but this newcomer was something special. She watched me at the window while DH snuck out to take a picture, she didn't even move. After about 5 minutes she flew away and I could let the dogs out. I don't know why but this year we didn't get any chickadees after the winter and the tree swallows only appeared for about a week, as if to say 'we're just passing thru'. Marg
