winter bluebirds

This is just shocking to me. Yesterday in zero degree weather a flock of bluebirds showed up. I had been putting out small offerings of mealworms in the bluebird feeder for the Carolina Wrens and Juncos. When I saw the blues, I couldn't believe it. I have lived here 30 years and have never seen a bluebird in the winter! I could not get an accurate count because they kept coming and going, but there were quite a few of them. I kept filling up the feeder with mealworms for them. I must have gone through thousands of mealworms, and I knew I'd run out, so I quickly made them a suet recipe I found on the silias website. It is seven below zero here this morning, and they are back. I am about 20 miles west of Boston. Hopefully I can keep them fed through this cold spell.
