Thailand water birds

Several teachers from my school went to Safari and Water World parks on the outskirts of Bangkok yesterday. When we drove through the safari grounds, staying in the car to avoid dangerous animals, I saw that storks and other bird species had taken advantage of the protection from poaching and were nesting in the trees on the edge of the property, using the numerous lagoons on the grounds. While others took pictures of game animals, I was photographing nesting birds.

There was sign in the tiger habitat saying, "If you have car trouble stay in your car and honk the horn" but one of the teachers started to get out to take a photo anyway, remarking that nothing was around. Another teacher said to stop, that we'd all seen Jurassic Park!

OH MY WORD!!!!!! These pictures are astonishingly wonderful Rachel!! Your photographs are always very nice, but for some reason this series just wowed me more than others you have shot. I am going to go back again and again to look at these. Some of the bird and animal expressions and poses are just priceless! How I would love to visit such a place. I was concerned about this as well. We have three bird baths and there is a constant stream of birds, squirrels, chipmunks and neighborhood cats visiting them. My husband and I discussed it and decided we are going to openly clean and refresh the bird baths. There are people who have pets outdoors that they rightfully keep water out for. Several of our neighbors have fenced backyards with their pet dogs outside (they provide shelter for them). We view the wildlife at our baths and feeders as pets. Hopefully the authorities will agree. All they would have to do is look at our pitiful plants and shrubs dying to know there is no "outdoor watering" going on here.

Thanks! Alex is based in Bangkok and the others bird all over the country, while I'm limited to my scooter and buses, but it was good to at least go that one time. I'll try some of the professional techniques on the local birds to see if I have any luck!

Thanks..I used my Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 lens, so the quality was better than my usual Canon EF 400mm f/5.6 lens. Apparently getting more light with the f/4 makes a difference in color brilliance
