Kenn & Others re. Squirrels 'The Slinky and Other Deterrants'

I have read many older posts and one that seems to come up quite a bit is the slinky trick. Just a regular slinky (the kind we used to play with as kids). This is used on a pole feeder and I hear it works great!!

I cannot remember exactly how it is hooked up, but do remember that it is a very simple procedure and very amusing to watch to squirrels try to get up the pole.

So....do a search for slinky and you will find the info. that you need. This might end your problem with the feather mess. And the entertaning will be quite amusing on top of that.

A few other tips, squirrels do not like safflower or hot pepper suet (both of which are somewhat easy to find in stores). Birds do not mind the hot pepper. Of course you can use a baffle, but a slinky is MUCH cheaper. Heck, buy one for yourself too, I remember them being such a blast when I was younger...hee hee.....

Another idea, buy a separate feeder for your squirrels and put it in another place in your yard, this works for some.
