strawberries are pretty tough handle frost, snow not sure.pull them out over wintger cut all the leaves off root prune then replant in fast draining soil, i.e 5.1.1 mix feed and water well :) BZ

Today I recieved my orders from Lindenberg and Botanus. I'm really quite happy with the quality. I ordered alot of lilies, a couple daylilys, 3 roses, some iris, monkshood, a clematis, and aloestromeria. Botanus goofed up on the aloestromeria though. I had ordered 2 different pkgs of 2 roots. The one pkg had 3 and the other had ...peat moss. I couldn't believe it. I'll e-mail them tomorrow after I have a chance to take a better look at everything else. Last week I recieved lily bulbs from Veseys and Lily Nook. I've done a bit of shopping at 2 local greenhouses and came home with 2 martha washington geraniums, 2 blue veined double wave petunias,1 Ernest Markam clematis, a pink coneflower, 2 yellow and 1 pink osteospermum, and a couple of other basket fillers. I spent around $70 at the greenhouses. Thank goodness that I started alot of my plants this year as I haven't found any bargains. I still have an order to come from Dominion House and the bulk of my roses from Cedar Hollow and Valley K Greenhouses will be coming in a couple weeks.

Hello Jim - I have long been using jute twines, as they are so readily available in the garden centers & box stores - but have to use several strands twisted together for fear of bruising or even cut stems if used singly. I bundle my canes ala hayseedman too & have used strips of old b-sheets. I am running out of sheeting strips as my Lacecaps have grown taller & wider & will used jute twines. From your experience, is jute twine fairly friendly to those skinnier stems? I'm in the process of prepping my bloom tenders as Winter seems to be sneaking in earlier than expected, in our zone. I've also picked up the bagging of collected dry leaves from Hay (but I use smaller bags) for easier clean up in Spring. TIA - ditas

I have no idea what varieties might be hardy in your zone, though no passiflora can be above ground in a pot over the winter where you have below freezing temps. Some varieties if planted in the ground will come back from the roots. I cut my container vines way back and grow them like houseplants over the winter, either in a heated greenhouse or in my house. They look pretty shabby by the end of November but they come back when they go back outside in the spring. Karyn
