I am outside Charlotte, NC - Zone 7 - TTTF lawn. Stonewall is "Barricade" pre-emergent. Did a full renovation last fall - Aerate/overseed. Spots are well drained. Have not irrigated this year at all. Just natural rainfall. About 2 inches in Feb and March. Did have a 15 day dryspell over the past few weeks, but rest of lawn is green and good. Soil test from last Nov: Ph = 6.1 Buffer Ph = 7.70 CEC = 9.9 meq/100 g Acidity = 2.4 meq/100g P = 196 K = 87 Ca = 2032 Mg = 525 Zn = 1.9 Mn = 51 B = 0.3 Cu = 1.6 Na = 39 Base Saturation: Ca = 51% Mg = 22% K = 1% Na = 1% Total = 75% A translation would be awesome...could it be a nutrient problem? How do I correct that? Also, can I do a second app of pre-emergent now? Can anyone help?

In what direction does that hill point? I ask because that looks parched, not dying (or, dormant, which given the weather for the last two weeks is not surprising in the slightest). My mother's southern-facing hill looks very similar right now, and my slightly tilted southwestern face is nothing to write home about right now! Dormant grasses will pull easily, but avoid doing so as it damages the remaining crown and roots. If it's dormant, it'll return with adequate water. Which means it might start this week as we're due for some unstable weather patterns.

Have you checked to see how wet it gets? If you dig down a little at the edge you can tell. It may have a fungus. In some areas it has been cool this year, so if you are watering too much you could be encouraging a rust or something. Other things that kill grass are grub infestations, but I think we're mostly past that now: they are all ready to hatch at this time of year. Perhaps if you post some photos you can get better answers. I hope it's something easily cured. Renee

If it get's "very little sunlight," it won't survive where you have it anyway. Didn't the "directions" say it needs full sun? Chances are, it's suffering from not being watered while you were away. Newly planted grasses need to be watered every day at least. If you live where the current heat spell is happening, it's even more important. Water it 2-3 times a day until the heat subsides. Then move it to a sunnier spot, and cross your fingers.
