Those things get really huge in your part of the state, huh? I don't know if they're hardy here, but I wouldn't have room for something that big. It is beautiful though. I love the color of the flowers.

It's beautiful, love the pics!!!! The cutting you gave me wilted completely over in half and lost all of it's leaves. I watered it well, place it in a shaded wind protected spot, and put a stake in next to it to keep it propped up. After 5 days it straightened back up again and now is growing leaves like crazy. This is what it looked like 2 days ago, there are more leaves on it today:

Brugs are beautiful, Linda!!! And, Denise, they do grow that big in our neck of the woods- it just requires more care than a warmer climate.
Do you know the name of this one? It actually looks pink in the photo. It is a breathtaker.......

Carrie, this is a peach and cream burgmansia, it is not pink. I do not know the name of the burgmansia. We were in West Palm Beach Florida, and my husband was driving and went oh my God, look at that! I thought he saw a topless woman. There was a long driveway that was outlined with these peach burgmansia, you actually drove under them, it was beautiful. My husband told me to go the next day and find that plant. I got out of the car and went and got one of the blooms, since I had no idea what it was, and took it to the nursery, I found one in a 15 gallon pot and had it shipped to Texas by ups. I have had it since 2001. I finally lost the mother plant this past winter, it was still inthe 15 gallon pot. I did not cover it and it froze. I had so many branches that touched the ground that rooted themselves, I just cut them from the dead mother plant, and they took off, this is their first year, they are almost as tall as the house, but will get much taller. There are actually 3 small trees in the photo. This plant does great in San Antonio, but doesn't do well in Rockport. I have one that is dark yellow that only gets about 6 or 7 feet tall that does really well in Rockport, that is the one that I call my fruit cocktail brugmansia, the lower branches bloom pink and the top branches bloom yellow, both love the coastal weather. Peaches and Cream is the name of a brugmansia, honeybunny. I have over 60 plants, and probably 30 named cultivars. I have been growing them for only 3 years, but they are addictive. I am trialing one now for a friend in Seattle who hybridized it year before last. It takes at least four years from first to last, and I am hoping he wants to keep and name this one as I really like it. If not, I can keep it for myself, but cannot share it with anyone. From the 22 cuttings I started last fall, most are blooming....some are inground, but many are in containers. If you want to protect them in the winter, all you have to do is cut back to the ground and mulch heavily. Then you have a trunk cutting to either share or have another for yourself. They root so easily.

Good luck on your surgery. I just had my shoulder done last week and it is driving me nuts to not be able to garden much now that it finally quit raining. If anyone has extra brug cuttings I would love to have a couple. I would be willing to buy them. I could only find one at the nursery here and they didn't even know what color it was. Guess I will wait and see. It is finally growing now that we have some sun. I can't wait for a bloom. I have wanted to grow these for years but had to wait til I got a house.

Barbra and I both live in Rockport about a mile from one another. Her brugs do great down here, while mine just don't like it here. We have decided the only difference is that I'm right on the water and get lots and lots of wind that just rips my brugs to bits! Barbra's are more protected by trees and her brugs do great. I've decided to grow mine in pots so I can control the wind they receive.
