Oooops, is 'Incense' Passiflora a monster to be feared?

I pride myself on trying not to plant invasive plants, especially along fence lines. I fear pride may have cometh before a fall on this one:
While hubby was helping me stake up my monster hibiscus last night, I noticed Passiflora "seedlings" popping up in the area I planted an Incense passiflora this spring to replace an edible P. edulis I lost to the winter freeze.
While surfing on line to see if the incense spread by runners, imagine my sinking feeling as I read antecdotes of it springing up 40 and 50 feet away in neighbor's yards! I was hoping that the winter-killed P. edulis had revived, but I suppose I'm correct in that this is the incense rearing itself.
Should I aggressively kill this one off? Should I just aggressively remove seedlings as they crop up? Would I have any success at containing it if I sunk it in a pot in the ground? Should I have considered other varieties that are less invasive?
Sound off: good, bad, or indifferent... It is beautiful, vigorous, and fragrant...
