tulip poplars..good or bad?

I don't really want to "manage" the landscape. However, what would YOU do if an area on your property which had previously been wooded, had been stripped of trees, leaving bare dirt, weeds and millions and millions of tulip poplar seedlings, a few red buds and a smattering of paw paws? The largest trees around are tulip poplar which I love! However, there are so many saplings coming up in the disturbed area I just can't imagine them all growing to maturity. What usually happens? Do people pick and choose which saplings to keep? Do most of the saplings die (seems unlikely as they all appear very lusty!) and only a few survive to maturity? Do other smaller trees like redbuds and paw paws stand a chance among all the tp saplings? What would you do?
