Darn! Wireworms are much more difficult to control than cutworms. Granular insecticides worked into the soil seem to be the only thing that works according to most of the literature. It is one of the cases where heavy spring tilling before planting is also advised. And planting some potatoes as a trap crop for them is another recommendation. Did you find many of them? There is a trick I read about once - never needed it so can't guarantee it but maybe others here have tried it - cutting potatoes in half and staking them in among the tomato plants cut side down. My advice is to not buy plants. all too often they are not the variety marked. for me I have missed on almost all being wrong. Plant seeds and get the correct variety that grows like you want them to grow. One big thing is that plants are usually NOT f1 hybrids. The growers of plants all too often save seeds and give you later generations that just do not perform. you must buy high quality seeds and grow your own to get the correct plants. The growers of plants all too often use inferior seeds. they tend to make their own seeds and get the seeds and the plants mixed up. it makes for random plants. Just my experience. I wonder how many people above bought plants instead of good seeds.

Hey there. Those UT mountains in the background are killing me! Don't get a view like that in NC, but it's lush and green here. Usually yellowing is due to nitrogen deficiency or overwatering. Since it seems like you had plenty of nitrogen, I'm going to guess overwatering as well. Also plants dropping flowers can be due to overheating, and I heard it got pretty hot in your area this year. My parents live in UT, and they only water 2 to 3 times a week during ave summer weather -- more when it's over 95. I have the overwatering disease so I finally bought a cheap moisture meter at Lowes and my garden is doing great, whereas before everything was yellow. Best of luck to you!

I can read testimonials but I want to know what is the product make-up behind all the hoopla before I purchase it. If you go to Messenger site it says it is harpin protein etc.--I can research that and make a decision. I looked it up on Wash. State site, very,very low NPK but doesn't give source. I don't care if it is the hair of a yak from Mongolia --I may try it if enough people were raving about it but a company should say what are the components of the product.))
