Comments (8)i did think about that.. when i used to mail order.. i just had a huge pot.. or wheelbarrow full of soil.. and would just heal things into it.. while waiting for the soil to warm .... though i agree moving entire plants around in early spring.. gobs of soil and all like chris .... is easily done what i am not sure about the garaged roots.. something just tells me to err on the safe side ... they are bound to suck up significant amounts of water.. and MIGHT become problematic in cold soil .. or if they sprout, frosts and freezes ... besides soil warmth.. it might also be a soil drainage issue .... it probably wouldnt matter in my sand ... low odds of root rots .... ken...See MoreWhen to dig and transplant lily bulbs
Comments (4)they are storing the green energy into the bulb for next season .. in my world.. every speck of green must be stored... so i would not move them until they are at least 95% yellow ... so what will happen if you go a few weeks early ... what.. they might be an inch smaller... who cares ... so you know what all that adds up to ... learnin.. lol ... just do what you can.. when you have the time.. and get it done.. that is always better than never getting around to it ... but the bottom line is.. dont worry about it.. ken...See MoreLily of the Valley Transplant
Comments (5)Boy, I havenâÂÂt put much thought into Lily of the Valley for years, but now that the topic is open for discussion, hereâÂÂs my limited experience. In regards to flowers for your wedding, you could always consider buying pips for forcing. I know White Flower used to sell them for that purpose. If you do it correctly, you might be able to more accurately time the blooms for your wedding. I didnâÂÂt realize there was another new and improved variety on the market. Looks interesting. Years and years ago I did buy a variety named FortinâÂÂs Giant. From a quick Goggle search it looks like it may no longer be widely available. The flowers of that one are HUGE in comparison to the regular garden variety and was probably worth the money. I think at the time a single pip went for something like $10. Doing a bit of searching, I came across this vendor who has a few interesting varieties. http://www.cherrycreekdaffodils.com/page9/styled-4/rapidcart-8/index.html Kevin...See Morecarnivorous23
