Comments (4)I grew up in Southern Texas where we had Birds eye Peppers and now I have been living up here in the Northern US (Michigan and now Delaware). Comments (37)While it is true that the EPA RRP Rule does not apply to homeowners working on their own home, there are still the health problems associated with lead poisoning for you and your family. There is also the problem when you go to sell your home, one of the documents you have to fill out as a seller is a lead disclosure form. I'm not a Realtor but I've been told by many Realtors that it's very difficult to sell a home that has been renovated, repaired, or painted without following the EPA RRP Rule. Another option on the covering is to lathe and stucco the house. My own house had lead paint on two sides. It also had very little insulation so we opted to place 2" foam board on the house, lathe and stucco. The lead paint is behind all of that so will only present a problem if someone decides to add a window or door!...See Moreany rules of thumb when getting a ceiling fan for a bedroom?
Comments (24)you guys are so awesome. So much great info, and things I would have never considered. leafy-Thanks for the input...I loved our fan w/lights in our old bedroom, but we had 10 ft ceilings and maybe that extra 2 feet helped. I will take your situation into consideration. stlouie-oooh, that is pretty and sleek and not to obtrusive looking! Iw ill research that a little more. Thanks! writers-I remember you...I think you live near me...I am in Plantation Acres. that fan looks like a MUST HAVE for hurricane season. I am not familiar w/that at all, so thanks for sharing. And good point about the fan and the air going to the edges of the room, I would have never thought of that. thanks vampire...I am going to consider white and also a brown to match the floor. I can not even consider NOT running the A/C during spring/summer. BUT...I try mybest to avoid the heater during the winter, I hate that dry heat...ugh. So you must feel that way about the fale coolness of the A/C....See MoreIs there a rule on where to place an island?
Comments (4)Sorry, Rhome410, I didn't see your response right away. Unfortunately, I don't have the layout on my computer and don't have access to a scanner at the moment, but what you are saying makes a lot of sense anyway. You've confirmed exactly what I was thinking. The long leg of the L is too long (about 18') to match the island to it (about 7'), especially since it's a narrow island. Right now the island is centered with the sink, which is centered under the windows. I was also thinking that with the table section, I could get away with adding another 6-8" or so to the island, because of its asymmetry. I'm hoping too that the table area will visually break up the island enough so it won't look too long and narrow. Thanks for your help....See Morevonyon
