Why not build your own? Its a good way to save money. A pvc gh built the right way will hold up pretty good if you pull the snow of it or you can heat the gh while its snowing to melt the snow right off. I'm currently working on mine and will have no more than $250 into it when done. If I used native cut lumber it would be cheaper yet. The wood is the most expense part! The size is 12x16 which is large enough for now. I will grow veggies directly in the soil, no benches for me.

Thanks all for your suggestions! We're going for tropical in the front yard, so will probably settle on queens for the center bed since they're one of the only ones that held up to this past winter. Below is the bed from a side angle, I'll get a better photo this weekend. And below is a doodle for plants I'm thinking about. Ignore the orphaned yucca on the bottom, he should be up with the other 2. Any suggestions for this bed? The robellini is planted and doing fine, now we just need to add some plants around it before we get the edging and gravel (pea gravel the shade of sand). I LOVE the daisy bush (Gamolepis chrysanthemoides) and have wanted to plant one for a while, and they stay green throughout the year when they're not flowering. The yucca is ok, it's hardy and green (maybe look for soft leaf yucca). I'm open to suggestions! I think we need more color. I was looking for the name of the plant I know as Thai Plant, it's thin stalks aboud 3 ft high to start and has reddish pinkish broad leaves. Anyone? I think we'll add a small coquina or two to this bed too. So suggestions are appreciated, also, has anyone dealt with pea gravel instead of mulch? We're just tired of the fading and replacing the mulch several times a year, so we're really leaning toward gravel. I know it's more expensive up front, but less work in the long run? Remember, I'm a newbie to gardening! :)

I thought I was losing my mind or dreamt it or whatever. A month later I go back to get another plant (not a daylily) lo & behold what do I see? I picked the bloom out in dozens of daylilies there! This one was a must have for me: ="" At the same time I saw Spiritual Corridor & really liked that 1 too. Never saw it in bloom until I had it home. I can't get a good pic of it, but man is it pretty to me! If you 'really' want to do some of the DIY stuff then you could easily learn some of the jobs handymac mentioned, but be honest with yourself about how handy you are when it comes to these jobs. Some people just aren't good at DIY and are never happy with the end results. Have you considered selling your home and buying one that better fits your family? Often, that option is better than a major remodel. Enclosing a sun room, moving a laundry and adding a second bath is a lot of plumbing work. They'll be tearing out walls, working around existing plumbing, AC/heating, and also adding/matching existing exterior work. It won't be cheap and, as it is with any remodel, it'll end up costing more before the work is finished. Sorry, I'm not being very encouraging, but if you do as jon suggested and plan everything out, you'll learn the true amount of $$ you'll be spending. Once you get that estimate, plan on spending another 15-20% on top of that.
