Comments (16)I have not pruned it. Only removed suckers. Removing suckers IS pruning. Why have you removed all the suckers? And there is no Early Blight and no TLCV symptoms in any of your photos. "Curly Top" is a group of diseases each with different causes and symptoms. Only one is carried by the leafhopper and several are carried by whiteflies and/or aphids. In most cases the plants die quickly but only after showing the characteristic purpling of the veins and bronzing of the leaves. The majority of the curling is in the stems, not the leaves, and when the leaves curl it is the "taco shell" curl that develops. Texas Z&M: What Makes Tomato Leaves Twist or Curl? a site that is a bit more reliable than Pinterest ever could be. Please quit focusing on the one leaf - it is no big deal - and focus on saving the plant as a whole. It is heavily stressed for many reasons including all the aggressive pruning and is suffering from nutrient deficiencies. Please do not start blanket spraying everything with Spinosad. Even if the plant did have CTV from leaf hoppers it is too late to spray for them now. So if you believe that is the case dispose of the plant. Comments (5)I regret to disagree with Sinfonian but tomato leaf curl can just as easily be caused by too much water as too little. ;) Tomato leaf curl is a common problem. It is physiological response of the plant to stress - any stress. Too much fertilizer, inconsistent soil moisture levels such as the excessive rain you have been experiencing, pest problems, or excess pruning. The important thing is it is not harmful to the plant, usually cures itself with time as the plant matures and the weather stabilizes, and it doesn't interfere with production. You will find many discussions about Tomato Leaf Curl over on the Growing Tomatoes forum and I have linked some of them for you below. Once your weather stabilizes, mulching those plants well will benefit them greatly. ;) Dave Here is a link that might be useful: Tomato Leaf Curl discussions......See MoreTomato plants are not as green and leaves curl!
Comments (19)By unreliable I mean you cannot be sure if the results are of any value. I have used those home test kits and compared them to the results from a good soil testing lab and found major differences. I have used the pH test to look at how they report on vinegar and a baking soda solution and found those test kits gave me the same pH on them. The home test kits do not test for either Calcium or Magnesium and the pH test does not tell you why your soil pH is where it is, important to know because that determines which type of lime, Calcitic or Dolomitic, you may need. If some of the plants are determinant and others are indeterminant and some are hybrid and others are heirloom they cannot be of the same cultivar. kimmq is kimmsr...See Morehelp! tomato stems curling and leaves shriveling
Comments (1)When you say white spec I suspect white flies. Check under the leaves for white spots. If this is the case you might not have any hope. This year it rains nonstop in Florida and many white flies gathered to my garden. They transmit a disease called leaf curl virus which can be devastating. It cause the plant to become stunted and no longer grow. Once the plant have it you can only destroy the plant since there is no cure, it may take time for the symptom to reveal itself as well. They are attracted to night shade plants, they like tomato, pepper, goji berry, and also basil. Bt spray, "quality" neem oil, and pepper/garlic spray can stop them , but they will keep coming back as long as they have a good food source and the environment is ideal for them (cool, damp, low airflow). They do not like open windy area with too much sun. Also strong smell like onion, lemongrass and mosquito plants helps deter them....See Moredciolek
