Question - Florida Weave and staking.

I've put a lot of work into the garden this year, but like a big dummy, I put off staking. Well, needless to say, I'm having my best crop yet and the tomato plants have grown quite large. I know it's too late to stake the plants as I will damage the roots, but I was considering trying a Florida Weave. I transplanted the 4 to 6 inch plants around the middle of May. They are spaced approximately 2 to 3 feet apart and are knee high or taller. My question is, how developed are the lateral roots at this point? If I run stakes between the tomatoes, am I going to damage any roots, and if so, how much of an issue would that be?

I have mulched around the tomatoes, so if worse comes to worse, I can always just leave them be, but I would really like to try the Florida Weave if possible.

Rutgers and Better Boys are what I planted.

Thanks for any help in advance.
