Val, I'm not sure about the tag on that one, it says Secret Love which when I researched show a red red red flower...so this must be some other name, or maybe the red will kick in next summer after it's not been in a pot. ha although where I placed it in my beds I'm counting on it keeping the color hopefully...

Our anniversary meeting was last night and we had 37 people in attendance which is really good for us since our normal attendance is between 15-20. We gave away a lot of really fun door prizes (all gardening related of course) and even a tree donated by our city organization - Keep Allen Beautiful. We even had four new members join and two who said they will join next month - hopefully. It was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to many more fun meetings and meeting more really nice people here in Allen. I think most people don't realize how much fun and educational it can be to join a garden club. Some people have it in their heads that it is (no offense here) a bunch of women sitting around sipping tea and talking about their gardens. We have men and women in our club. Last night's gardening presentation was on Fairy Gardens and the master gardener who gave the presentation made it so much fun. She even passed around a little container of fairy dust and EVERYONE - even the men left with little sparkles on their cheeks and smiles on their faces. This topic was out of the norm, but for our anniversary meeting was a whole lot of fun. When I get the pictures of the fairy gardens she brought downloaded on my pc, I'll post them because I think y'all would enjoy looking at them.

Bobbie told me the Tour, etc, is June 2. Wings of Love is DeAnn Waggoner (not me!), & she rescues birds & tries to find them good permanent adoptive homes. It's sad to see the gorgeous birds that people have to give up, & they have to give them to a rescue because they can't find a good home for them. She's had macaws, African Greys, sun conures, & I can't remember what other kinds. Some of those birds live 80 years, so taking one into your life is really a lifetime commitment. The Tour this year sounds exciting, featuring the gardens of some expert gardeners.

Thanks to all who came out to see the gardens on our tour today. It seems we had a real good turnout. It started out cool and warmed up by the afternoon - a real nice day to look at gardens.
