I Google'd an image of that plant and it looks like a dead ringer for the plant I posted. I would say your guess is very good, It must have escaped cultivation from whereabouts I live because this is not a normal plant seen here. thanks

How interesting that they look so similar. Maybe not in person, but the pictures. My lawn guy told me it was Virginia Buttonweed. When I looked it up, I figured he was right. Now after seeing the thread on Richardia, that looks more like it. Thanks, writersblock.

I've been trying to eradicate all my C. communi, and then I hope to colonize our native Commelina, like erecta and virginica. They are all so similar that it's a good idea to know the difference between C. communis and the native species so you aren't destroying native plants. Some people following this thread until now might walk away believing any Commelina is a weed? North America has 4 native Commelina species and 5 mon native species. Mo positive ID has been made for this Commelina. It could be native. I mention this for any people who really care about preserving native plants and who don't subscribe to the philosophy of, no care, no trouble, no fun, well mowed lawns are way to go.
